Both newbies and veterans. As you know, golf is a game where you need to pay attention to detail. Even things like the golf ball brand that you use are essential in this game.

There is a lot of talk about golf grip in this sport. It shows that a major part of learning golf is mastering the correct grip.

About half of the strokes in a golf game are used for putting, so you must focus entirely on this part of your game. If you want to be a good golfer, you have to make sure that you have full enthusiasm and dedication when practising your putting.

We interviewed over 100 experienced players to find out how you can perfect your putting grip. After you have learned the basics, you must learn for yourself and with the help of your coach which grip is appropriate for your style of play. Determining which grip you are comfortable with and then working to become an expert in that grip for you is one of the most important parts of learning the game.

Below is a list of the most popular putting styles you need to be familiar with.

  • The traditional overlapping grip. This is the most mentioned and most popular grip used by golfers. This grip involves placing your left hand on the grip and placing your right hand underneath your left hand. Once in this position, you need to cover the fingers of your right hand with the index finger of your left hand to connect the two hands.

  • The two-finger down grip. You need to cover the putter grip with both of your hands for this grip. After doing so, you need to point the index fingers of both hands in the direction of the putter grip.
  • Claw grip. Experts consider this grip to be one of the most unusual grips in golf. However, many golfers consider it a good grip when faced with putting problems. In this grip, you need to place your left hand on the grip and then place your right hand on top of the putter grip. The final step includes hooking the hand with the help of the right thumb.

  • Underhand left grip. Another golfer favourite, this grip is the exact opposite of the traditional putter grip. The only difference is that you only need to reverse the position of your left and right hands.

  • Box grip. This is a relatively new grip. It became the putter of choice for many golfers after its emergence a few years ago. First, you need to place your two hands side by side to keep your shoulders level. Second, place your left hand on top of the putter and your right hand about an inch below the putter. This will make your hands form a box shape.

These are the most common golf grips used by golfers around the world. On these basic grips, each golfer can add his or her own improvisation. So, if you are a beginner, start out with the grip that best suits your style of play and then gradually improve it to improve your game.
